This restriction applies to multi-axle trucks, trailers, containers, dumpers, tractors, road rollers, JCBs, and other similar vehicles. Vehicles providing essential services, including fuel, milk, agricultural produce, and emergency services, will be exempted from the ban.

Hinjewadi IT Park, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Narhe, and Kiwale have seen a sharp increase in vehicle numbers due to rapid industrialization and urbanization. The Katraj-Kiwale bypass, being a major route between Mumbai and Bengaluru, also carries heavy vehicles that do not enter Pune city.

This has led to daily traffic jams and accidents. In a joint meeting, Pune police and district administration decided to implement the restrictions strictly. Violators will face legal action, officials warned.
