Pune, 16 June 2025: In a major crackdown on organised crime, Pune Police shot dead Shahrukh alias Attati Sheikh, a notorious member of the ‘Tipu Pathan gang’, during an encounter in Lamboti village near Mohol in Solapur district. Sheikh, wanted for serious crimes including extortion, attempted murder, and robbery, opened fire on a police team and was killed in retaliatory firing early morning on Sunday.

Acting on a tip-off, a Crime Branch team led by Assistant Inspector Madan Kamble, along with officers Vinod Shivle, Amit Kamble, and Akbar Sheikh, raided the house of Sheikh’s relative Raju Sheikh at around 5 am. Despite police appeals to surrender, Shahrukh threatened the officers with a pistol and fired shots, forcing police to fire back.
