Pune, 26th August 2026: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized suspected amphetamine and MDMA worth around Rs 3.41 crore from a woman passenger at Pune Railway Junction and arrested her under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Acting on specific intelligence, officers from the DRI’s Pune Regional Unit, under the Mumbai Zonal Unit, intercepted the woman in the early hours of August 25. She was travelling from Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station in Delhi and was passing through Pune.
A detailed search of her baggage led to the recovery of 2,532 grams of a white-yellow crystalline substance suspected to be amphetamine, along with 878 grams of tablets of different colours suspected to contain MDMA, or 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine.
The seized substances were valued at approximately Rs 3.41 crore, according to the DRI. The agency took possession of the suspected narcotic drugs under the provisions of the NDPS Act.
The woman was arrested in connection with the alleged smuggling of the drugs. Investigators are examining the source of the substances, their intended destination and the possible involvement of others in the suspected trafficking network.
The DRI said the seizure was part of its intelligence-based action against the illegal trafficking and smuggling of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. Further investigation into the case is underway.
