Pune, 24th July 2026: Continuous rainfall over the past two days has severely affected traffic movement on Sinhagad Road, where muddy, waterlogged stretches and potholes have made commuting difficult. Vehicles have been skidding at several locations, resulting in minor accidents and frequent traffic congestion.
The worst-affected stretch is between Manik Baug DP Road and Hingne Chowk, where vehicles travelling towards both Pune city and Dhayari have been struggling on the slippery road surface.
Several infrastructure and construction projects are underway in the area, and mud carried by heavy vehicles transporting soil and construction material is being deposited on the main road.
With rainwater mixing into the mud, the road has become increasingly slippery, forcing motorists to drive cautiously and slowing traffic considerably.
Fire brigade personnel have been regularly cleaning the affected road stretches to improve safety. However, the problem continues as construction work and the movement of heavy vehicles persist, bringing fresh mud onto the road after every spell of rain.
At the same time, several internal roads in the area have developed potholes filled with rainwater, making travel even more difficult.
The damaged road surface, loose gravel and widespread mud have forced vehicles to slow down, creating long queues during peak hours. Traffic congestion has also been reported on roads connecting Prayag City to the main Sinhagad Road and the highway.
Residents of Dhayari, Nanded and Vadgaon are among the worst affected, as continuous movement of heavy vehicles has further deteriorated road conditions. Attempts to contact Pragya Poddar, Assistant Commissioner of the Pune Municipal Corporation's Sinhagad Road Ward Office, for a response were unsuccessful.
