Pune, 9th June 2026: Regional Transport Office (RTO) has taken action against 64,310 vehicles through its radar-based enforcement system over the past six months. The action was carried out between December 1, 2025, and June 8, 2026, using advanced interceptor vehicles equipped with radar technology.
The Pune RTO currently operates eight interceptor vehicles fitted with radar systems to monitor traffic violations. Since the launch of the technology-driven enforcement drive, authorities have recorded a significant number of offences across the city.
The highest number of violations involved two-wheeler riders travelling without helmets. A total of 64,310 vehicles were penalized during the period, with helmetless riders accounting for 85.7 percent of all cases detected.
The radar system also identified vehicles operating without valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates. Action was taken against 3,103 vehicle owners for failing to carry a valid PUC certificate.
“The number of people riding without helmets remains a serious concern. Our enforcement drive using modern interceptor vehicles will continue to be intensified. Citizens should follow traffic rules not just to avoid penalties, but for their own safety,” said Deputy Regional Transport Officer Sandeep Khadse.
