Pune, 22nd September 2026: A total of 11,000 auto-rickshaws in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad have completed meter calibration following the implementation of revised fares from September 1, 2026.
To speed up the process for drivers, the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) has increased the number of meter inspection centres, with two new centres becoming operational from Tuesday, September 22.
The revised fares were approved by the Pune Regional Transport Authority at its meeting on August 3. Following the fare revision, meter calibration has been made mandatory for auto-rickshaws.
Of the 11,000 rickshaws that have completed the process so far, around 8,000 are from Pune and 3,000 from Pimpri-Chinchwad. The RTO has expanded the inspection facilities considering that around 1.5 lakh auto-rickshaws operate in the two cities.
The two new centres are located at Shivajinagar and Ramtekdi, adding to the existing facilities available for meter verification.
Meter inspection is now available at the following locations:
In front of Alankar Police Station, Karvenagar
Near EON IT Park, opposite Kharadi Police Chowky
Sinchan Nagar, Range Hills Corner, Shivajinagar
Eagleburg Company, Ramtekdi Industrial Estate, Lane No. 3, Ramtekdi
The centres will operate according to the following schedule:
Monday to Friday: 8 am to 10 am
Saturday: 8 am to 4 pm
Sunday and government holidays: Closed
Sub-Regional Transport Officer Swapnil Bhosale said the number of centres has been increased to complete the meter calibration process faster. He urged auto-rickshaw drivers to visit the nearest inspection centre on working days and get their meters verified.
“Drivers should visit the nearest centre and complete meter verification, except on Sundays and government holidays,” Bhosale said.
