Pune, 2nd March 2026: The long-awaited bridge connecting Suncity in Anandnagar to Karvenagar across the Mutha River is set to be opened to traffic by May 26, offering significant relief to commuters travelling via Sinhagad Road.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has fixed a pre-monsoon deadline to complete the remaining work and make the bridge operational.

The bridge project, which began in September 2023, is designed to ease traffic movement between Sinhagad Road, Karvenagar, Kothrud, Satara Road and Katraj. For over two years, commuters have faced congestion in this busy corridor, particularly near Rajaram Bridge and adjoining stretches.

During a site inspection on Saturday, Mayor Manjusha Nagpure and Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram reviewed the progress and instructed officials to complete the remaining construction on priority. Senior civic officials, including City Engineer Aniruddha Pawaskar and heads of the special projects and road departments, were also present.

Officials stated that structural work on the Karvenagar side, including pillars, girders and approach roads, has been largely completed. Work on erecting pillars on the Suncity side is currently underway.

Before opening the bridge, the PMC will also remove road obstructions and complete widening work on the Suncity and Warje approach roads to ensure seamless connectivity.

The Special Projects Department confirmed that the bridge will be ready for traffic before the onset of the monsoon. Once operational, the new link is expected to reduce pressure on Sinhagad Road and Rajaram Bridge, cut travel time between Sinhagad Road and Kothrud, and minimize frequent traffic snarls and accidents in the area.
