The sudden drop in temperature is being felt across several parts of Maharashtra, with cold mornings and chilly nights becoming common again. After a brief phase of relatively milder weather, the return of intense cold has affected daily routines, especially during early morning and late-night hours.

Weather experts say the flow of cold northern winds is the main reason behind the fall in minimum temperatures. These winds have lowered night-time temperatures across large parts of the state, increasing the overall cold stress, particularly in urban and semi-urban regions.

According to forecasts, this cold spell is not expected to last long. From January 10 to January 14, around the Makar Sankranti period, minimum temperatures are likely to rise gradually, leading to a slight reduction in the intensity of the cold across Maharashtra.
