Pune, 8th July 2026: The Palkhis of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj will arrive together in Pune city on Thursday (July 9) as part of the Ashadhi Wari procession.

To ensure safe and smooth movement during the procession, Pune Traffic Police have announced that all types of vehicular traffic on the Palkhi routes will remain completely closed from early Thursday morning. Alternative routes have also been notified for motorists.

Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi Route

The Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi will travel from Alandi via Wadmukhwadi, Charholi Phata, Dighi Magazine, Bopkhel Phata, Kalas, Vishrantwadi, Phulenagar, Alandi Road Junction, Chandrama Chowk, Sadalbaba Chowk, Sangamwadi Road, Patil Estate Chowk, Sancheti Hospital, Simla Office Chowk, Fergusson Road, Sant Dnyaneshwar Paduka Chowk, Sant Tukaram Paduka Chowk, Goodluck Chowk, Garware Bridge, Khandojibaba Chowk, Lokmanya Tilak Chowk, Laxmi Road, Budhwar Chowk, Pasodya Vitthoba Temple Chowk, Moti Chowk, Sonya Maruti Chowk, Hamzekhan Chowk, Dulya Maruti Chowk, Nana Peth Chowki and Doke Talim Chowk before reaching Palkhi Vitthoba Temple in Bhawani Peth for its night halt.

The road between Bopkhel Phata and Vishrantwadi Chowk will remain closed for internal traffic from 3 am to 8 pm on Thursday.

Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Route

The Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi will leave Shri Vitthal Temple at Akurdi and proceed through Chinchwad, Pimpri, Vallabhnagar, Phugewadi, Dapodi, Harris Bridge, Bopodi Chowk, Khadki, Wakdewadi, Patil Estate Chowk, Sancheti Hospital Chowk, Simla Office Chowk, Fergusson Road, Sant Dnyaneshwar Paduka Chowk, Sant Tukaram Paduka Chowk, Goodluck Chowk, Garware Bridge, Khandojibaba Chowk, Lokmanya Tilak Chowk, Laxmi Road, Budhwar Chowk and Sonya Maruti Chowk before reaching Nivdungya Vitthoba Temple in Nana Peth for its night halt.

The Bopodi Chowk to Church Chowk stretch and adjoining internal roads will remain closed from 3 am to midnight. The roads between Mental Hospital Corner and Alandi Road Junction, Sadalbaba Dargah and Patil Estate, and New Ambedkar Bridge and Chandrama Chowk will also remain completely closed throughout Thursday.

Alternative Routes for Motorists

Pune Traffic Police have announced the following alternative routes:

  • Vishrantwadi: Vehicles coming from Bopkhel Phata should use Dhanori Road and internal roads.

  • Mumbai–Pimpri side: Use Bopodi Chowk, Bhau Patil Road, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Chowk and Bremen Chowk (Aundh) to enter Pune city.

  • Nagar Road and Yerawada side: Use Sadalbaba Dargah Chowk, Parnakuti Chowk, Bund Garden Bridge, Jahangir Chowk or Gunjan Chowk.

  • Vehicles accompanying dindis from Alandi: Use the Alandi–Markal–Tulapur–Phulgaon–Lonikand–Wagholi–Lohegaon route.

  • Vehicles heading towards Indiranagar, Dattanagar and Mariai Gate: Use the Sapras Chowki Junction–Chandrama Chowk–Sadalbaba Dargah–Parnakuti Chowk route.

Alternative Roads in Central Pune

During restrictions on Fergusson Road, motorists should use Senapati Bapat Road, Nal Stop Chowk and Mhatre Bridge. Whenever Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road remains closed, traffic will be diverted via Jangli Maharaj Road, Khandojibaba Chowk and Lokmanya Tilak Road.

Restrictions and Parking Arrangements

During the Palkhi halt in the city, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road (from S.G. Barve Chowk to Swargate) and Laxmi Road (from Sant Kabir Chowk to Belbaug Chowk) will remain closed to all vehicles from 3 pm on Thursday until 11 am on Saturday.

Vehicular movement and parking will not be permitted on the roads in front of Palkhi Vitthoba Temple and Nivdungya Vitthoba Temple.

Parking for devotees arriving on two-wheelers has been arranged at Pandit Nehru Road, Ganesh Road and the Power House area.

Additionally:

  • No Parking will be enforced on both sides of the Palkhi routes and on adjoining roads up to 100 metres.

  • Roads will be reopened in phases after the Palkhis pass through each stretch.
