
Pune, 30 July 2025: To mark the birth anniversary of Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe, a large gathering is expected at Sarasbaug in Pune on August 1. To avoid traffic congestion in the area, the Pune Traffic Police have announced several temporary changes in the city’s traffic routes. These diversions will be effective from 7 AM on Thursday.
Traffic heading from Jedhe Chowk to Sarasbaug will be completely restricted. Vehicles will not be allowed on the flyover (Y-junction) at Jedhe Chowk towards Sarasbaug. Entry from Vega Center to Sarasbaug Grade Separator will also be closed.
In addition, traffic from Dandekar Bridge and Sinhgad Junction towards Swatantryaveer Savarkar Chowk will be diverted. The stretch between Savarkar Chowk and Puram Chowk will remain closed as well. However, the road from Puram Chowk to Jedhe Chowk will temporarily operate as a two-way route to ease movement.
Depending on the crowd and situation, the traffic near Dandekar Bridge and Savarkar Chowk may be relaxed from 3 PM to midnight. Vehicles coming towards Savarkar Chowk via the Neelayam Bridge may be redirected through Parvati village route if required.
For Singhgad Road access:
Jedhe Chowk → Satara Road → Volga Chowk → Mitramandal Chowk → Savarkar Chowk → Singhgad Road.
To reach Swargate from Singhgad Road:
Dandekar Bridge → Nath Pai Chowk → Na. C. Phadke Chowk → Puram Chowk → Lokmanya Tilak Road → Jedhe Chowk.
From Katraj to Sarasbaug:
Turn left via Laxminarayan (Volga Chowk).
From Vega Center:
Take the route via Rashtrabhushan Chowk and Hirabag Chowk.
To reach destinations via Savarkar Chowk and Dandekar Bridge:
Use Nath Pai Chowk → Savarkar Chowk → Dandekar Bridge → Lokmanya Tilak Road.
The traffic police urge citizens to cooperate and use alternate routes to avoid inconvenience.
