Pune, 18 March 2026: Due to the upcoming Maharashtra Kesari wrestling competition, the Pune Traffic Police has implemented special traffic regulations in the Lonikand area to manage the expected crowd and avoid congestion.
As per the plan, entry of heavy vehicles has been restricted on the Lonikand to Kharadi bypass stretch along the Pune–Ahilyanagar Road. The restriction will remain in force from March 18 to March 22, between 2 PM and 11 PM daily.
A large number of wrestling enthusiasts from across the state are expected to attend the event, increasing the traffic jams in the area. To ensure smooth movement, authorities have decided to temporarily ban heavy vehicles during peak hours.
The restriction applies to goods carriers, private passenger buses, and construction vehicles such as JCBs, road rollers, and tractors. Additionally, parking of such vehicles along the main route and nearby roads has also been prohibited.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Himmat Jadhav, has appealed to heavy vehicle drivers to use alternative routes and cooperate with traffic authorities to ensure smooth flow of vehicles during the event.
