During the drive, traffic police booked 707 four-wheelers for using prohibited tinted films on windows and 1,505 vehicles for displaying registration plates that did not meet legal specifications. Many vehicles were found using decorative plates with altered fonts, small lettering, symbols, religious images and other designs that violated prescribed standards.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sandip Bhajibhakare said the campaign was launched after officials noticed a growing number of vehicles violating rules related to window tinting and registration plates. He said traffic personnel removed the illegal window films and unauthorised number plates immediately at the spot as part of the enforcement action.

Police imposed a ₹500 fine on first-time offenders, while motorists caught repeating the violations were fined ₹1,500. Officials said the use of dark films on side windows and rear windshields, along with non-standard number plates, makes vehicle identification difficult and is a violation of traffic regulations.

Bhajibhakare said the special drive will continue in the coming days, and traffic police have been instructed to take strict action wherever such violations are found. He also appealed to vehicle owners to install High Security Registration Plates (HSRPs) and follow the prescribed rules, warning that repeat offenders will face stricter enforcement.
