

Pune, 25th August 2026: Pune Traffic Police have announced temporary road closures and traffic diversions across several parts of the city ahead of the Eid-e-Milad procession on Wednesday, August 26.
The restrictions will be implemented to manage traffic congestion and ensure the safety of participants and motorists, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) P.R. Patil said in an official notification.
The main procession will begin at Manushah Masjid in Nana Peth and pass through several key areas of central Pune before concluding at a mosque in Shukrawar Peth. Traffic will be stopped on both sides of the procession route as the procession moves through different sections.
The procession will pass through:

Nishat Cinema
Chudaman Talim
Babajan Dargah
Qureshi Masjid
15 August Chowk
M.G. Road
Mohammed Rafi Chowk
Kohinoor Chowk
Mahavir Chowk
Centre Street
Sarbatwala Chowk
Quarter Gate
Nana Chawdi Chowk
Alpana Cinema
Hamza Khan Chowk

Traffic will be suspended on both sides of the procession route while the procession is in progress.
Roads and lanes connecting to the procession route may also be closed for up to 100 metres from their junctions.
Two-wheelers, cars, autorickshaws, tempos and other light vehicles will not be permitted on the designated procession routes.
Restrictions will be lifted in stages after the procession passes through each section.
Traffic behind the procession will resume gradually once the route is cleared.
Ambulances, fire engines, police vehicles and other emergency vehicles will be exempt.
Traffic police have planned diversions at around 20 locations, including:

Quarter Gate
Nana Peth
Padamji Police Chowky Chowk
A.D. Camp Chowk
Chudaman Talim Chowk
Babajan Chowk
Mahavir Chowk
Sarbatwala Chowk
Govind Halwai Chowk
Hamza Khan Chowk
Depending on traffic and crowd conditions, restrictions at Camp Y-Junction and ISKCON Temple Chowk may also be introduced from 9 a.m.
Motorists travelling through the following areas have been advised to use alternate routes:
Rasta Peth
Nana Peth
Camp
M.G. Road
Centre Street
East Street
Laxmi Road
Adjoining roads and connecting areas
Vehicles travelling from Hadapsar, Swargate and Nehru Road will also be diverted through designated alternate corridors.
Devotees arriving from Mundhwa, Kondhwa, Fatimanagar, Hadapsar, Wanowrie and Khadki have been asked to park near:
Khane Maruti Chowk
Indira Gandhi Chowk
From these locations, devotees will have to proceed on foot to join the procession. Police have said that entry into the middle of the main procession will not be permitted.
A separate procession in Khadki will begin at Tikaram Chowk and proceed through:

Khadki Bazaar
The procession will disperse at Khadki Bazaar.
The traffic police have appealed to citizens to avoid the notified routes, refrain from parking vehicles along the procession roads and cooperate with personnel deployed for traffic management.
The restrictions will remain temporary and will be removed as the procession moves forward. Motorists have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow additional travel time while travelling through central Pune on August 26.
