Pune, 12th October 2026: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has exposed a suspected bogus college after an inquiry revealed that Synergy School of Commerce, operated by the Synergy Foundation, was not functioning at its officially registered address.

The university has warned students against seeking admission to the institution for the 2026–27 academic year, citing the absence of university affiliation and alleged regulatory violations.

The case came to light after a student complained to the university that the college was refusing to issue her transfer certificate (TC). The university administration attempted to contact the institution by telephone but was unsuccessful. It subsequently formed an inquiry committee to investigate the complaint.

During a visit to the college's registered address, committee members found that the institution was not present at the location. The university also received information that the college had shifted to another address without completing the required approval process.

The inquiry raised concerns about the college admitting students without university affiliation, shifting premises without permission and failing to meet staffing requirements, including the appointment of a principal and adequate teaching and non-teaching staff.

Dr Dhananjay Mandlik, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management at SPPU, said the university had initiated an investigation following the student's complaint. He confirmed that the institution was absent from its registered address and had allegedly shifted without following the university's prescribed procedures.

Mandlik added that the university had reported the alleged irregularities to the Directorate of Technical Education and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for further action.

The university's Educational Affiliation Department has issued a public notice advising students not to take admission to any course offered by Synergy School of Commerce from the 2026–27 academic year.
