Pune, 27 January 2026: City was left shocked after a disturbing incident came to light from Wagholi, where a mother is accused of killing her 11-year-old son and seriously attacking her teenage daughter. The crime, which occurred in the Baif Road area, has triggered widespread outrage and fear among residents.

According to police, the accused woman, identified as Soni Santosh Jaibhay, originally from Kandhar in Nanded district and currently residing in Wagholi, allegedly slit her son’s throat, killing him on the spot. The victim has been identified as 11-year-old Sairaj Santosh Jaibhay.

In the same incident, her 13-year-old daughter, Dhanashree Santosh Jaibhay, was brutally attacked and left critically injured. She was rushed to hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.

This incident marks the second brutal crime reported in Wagholi within just two days, intensifying concern over law and order in the area. Following the attack, tension prevailed in the locality.

Police have detained the accused and launched a detailed investigation to determine the exact motive behind the act. Officials are examining whether the crime was the result of a domestic dispute or severe mental stress.
