Pune, 1st May 2026: Water supply across several parts of West Pune, including Kothrud, Karvenagar, Warje, Bavdhan, Pashan, Sus, Baner, Balewadi and Bopodi, will remain suspended today following a major leak in a key water pipeline.

The leakage was detected near the Warje crematorium in a 1600 mm diameter pipeline that carries water from Khadakwasla to Warje. The issue reportedly occurred after the pipeline was accidentally damaged during ongoing work under the JICA project by the sewage department.

Due to the severity of the leak, authorities have had to shut down pumping operations at Phase 2 of the Warje water treatment plant. This has led to an unexpected disruption in water supply across western parts of the city, causing inconvenience to residents.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has stated that repair work is underway on a war footing. Citizens have been urged to use water cautiously until normal supply is restored.
