Pune, 1st April 2026: City is set to experience a contrasting weather pattern in the coming months, with both rising heat and increased rainfall, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD has forecast that large parts of India, including Pune, are likely to witness above-normal heatwave days between April and June. This suggests a hotter-than-usual summer, with prolonged spells of high temperatures expected across the region.
At the same time, the city has already seen unusual weather activity. Pune’s Shivajinagar area recorded 26.6 mm rainfall in March 2026, making it the wettest March since 2015.
The month also saw warmer nights, with the average minimum temperature reaching 17.76°C, among the highest recorded for March in recent years.
This combination of rising heat and unexpected rain highlights a shifting weather pattern, with Pune likely to experience both intense summer conditions and intermittent rainfall in the weeks ahead.
