Weather experts have warned that this cold wave like situation will continue for a few more days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that night temperatures will keep falling till December 11. Cold winds entering Maharashtra from northern India are expected to pull down temperatures across North and Central Maharashtra, including Pune.

IMD officials said that incoming cold air will likely bring cold-wave-like conditions in some parts of the region. They explained that the flow of cold winds from the north is directly responsible for the sharp fall in night temperatures being seen across Pune and nearby districts.

Health experts have also raised concerns that the colder weather could worsen respiratory problems. Poor atmospheric ventilation during winter nights often traps pollutants close to the ground, leading to a rise in air pollution levels and increasing health risks for vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and people with breathing issues.

The highest pollution was recorded at Dobarwadi at 449, followed by Model Colony at 376. Other areas remained in the moderate range but still at levels that can be harmful with prolonged exposure.
