Weather: Winter Chill Weakens in Pune as Temperatures Rise, But Air Quality Deteriorates
Pune, 25 November 2025: Pune is experiencing break from winter as temperatures during both day and night are rising. After a brief cold wave last week, the maximum temperature has climbed to 31.3°C, while the minimum has risen to 17.4°C.
Cloudy weather caused by Cyclone Senyar and other systems in the region has covered large parts of western Maharashtra, including Pune. This cloud cover has increased temperatures and reduced the chill Punekars usually expect at this time of year.
The India Meteorological Department has forecast similar conditions for Tuesday, with Pune’s minimum temperature likely to stay around 18°C. The persistent clouds are expected to keep the cold from settling in.
Along with the rise in temperature, air quality has become a major concern. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, Pune’s Air Quality Index has touched 158, a level classified as unhealthy. Residents may experience discomfort, especially those with respiratory conditions.
Even though the break from winter gives some comfort to Punekars, rising pollution levels is new concern before them.
