Pune, 30th June 2026: A rescue operation is underway after a wild gaur trapped between two large water pipelines in Pune's Vishranti Nagar area on Sinhagad Road on Monday.

The incident occurred on Janata Vasahat Road in Ward No. 28 under the Sinhagad Road Regional Office. Soon after receiving information, multiple government agencies rushed to the spot to rescue the animal safely.

Teams from the Forest Department, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), RESQ Charitable Trust and the police are jointly conducting the operation. Senior police officials are also present at the site to monitor the rescue efforts.

PMC Assistant Commissioner of the Sinhagad Road Regional Office, Mr. Waghmode, along with Health Inspector Priyanka Kank, is overseeing the operation.

Officials said every effort is being made to rescue the gaur without causing it any injury. The rescue teams are carefully coordinating their actions to safely free the animal from the narrow space between the pipelines while ensuring public safety in the surrounding area.
