Pune Warms Up After Week-Long Cold Spell; IMD Predicts Cloudy Skies, Light Rain Likely This Weekend
Pune, 20 November 2025: After more than a week of one digit temperature, Pune is now experiencing a gradual rise in minimum temperatures. On Thursday, the IMD’s Shivajinagar station recorded 11°C, while Pashan saw temperatures increase from 9°C to 10°C within a day.
Two days ago, Pune witnessed its coldest morning of the season at 9.4°C on November 18, which was 5.6°C below normal and even lower than Mahabaleshwar’s 10°C. The chill continued on November 19 with a minimum of 9.5°C. Several parts of the district, including Haveli, recorded lows between 7°C and 9°C.
According to the IMD, night temperatures are not expected to fall further, and a rise of 2–4°C is likely across Maharashtra in the coming days. Weather experts attribute this change partly to a developing system in the Bay of Bengal.
A low-pressure area is expected to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal around November 22 and may intensify into a depression by November 24 as it moves west-northwest.
This system could bring isolated light to moderate rainfall to parts of western Maharashtra later this week, including Pune. However, the IMD has not issued any rainfall warning for the city.
An IMD Pune official said the city’s temperatures have already begun rising and added that from November 22, Pune may see partly cloudy skies in the late afternoon and evening.
