Pune, 2nd July 2025: In a deeply troubling incident, a married woman was allegedly molested while travelling in a shared rickshaw with her young daughter on Tuesday (July 1) around 3:15 p.m. The incident took place near Loni Station Chowk in Kadamvasti, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Haveli Taluka Gram Panchayat, along the busy Pune-Solapur National Highway.

The victim, a 20-year-old woman from Lohegaon, was on her way to her maternal home in Daund taluka. She had boarded the rickshaw from Hadapsar, accompanied by her daughter. Two unknown men were already seated to her left. During the ride, one of the men, identified as Sameer Shahjahan Mukeri (34), allegedly began inappropriately touching her on the thigh and waist, causing her significant distress.

Disturbed and shocked by the accused’s actions, the woman immediately asked the rickshaw driver to halt the vehicle. At that moment, the accused reportedly threatened her and fled the scene. The woman then rushed to Loni Kalbhor police station and registered a formal complaint about the incident.

Acting swiftly, the police launched a search operation and successfully arrested the accused near Uruli Kanchan within a few hours. The operation was carried out under the leadership of Police Sub-Inspector Sarjerao Bobde and his team, including officers Pooja Mali, Rupali Jadhav, and Police Constable Kulkarni, under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Panhale.

Based on the woman's statement, Sameer Mukeri has been booked under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Sections 74, 75, and 351 (2) (3).
