Pune, 30 April 2026: The Pune district administration has finalized the compensation rate of ₹1.5 crore per acre for land to be acquired for the proposed international airport in Purandar. The long-pending decision is expected to accelerate the stalled land acquisition process.
Officials confirmed that the acquisition will begin from May 4 and will follow a first-come, first-served approach. The process had been delayed for months due to uncertainty over compensation for landowners across seven villages identified for the project.
The state government has already approved a loan of ₹6,000 crore from HUDCO for the project, out of which ₹500 crore has been released in the initial phase. Authorities plan to acquire around 3,000 hectares of land in the first stage.
Apart from land, the administration will separately assess and compensate for houses, trees, wells, and orchards on the acquired properties. Payments will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of affected farmers through the district collector’s office.
The administration aims to complete the entire land acquisition process for Purandar Airport within the next six months, paving the way for the long-awaited airport project.
