Data shows that murders in the city fell from 93 cases in 2024 to 79 in 2025. Cases of attempted murder and incidents of causing grievous injuries also declined during the year, reflecting better control over violent crime. Police officials attributed this improvement to stricter enforcement, focused patrols and targeted action against habitual offenders.

Property-related crimes, however, presented a mixed picture. While incidents of robbery and forcible theft remained largely unchanged, cases of chain snatching rose from 103 to 127, and house burglaries increased marginally from 512 to 528. These trends have prompted police to intensify surveillance in residential areas and crowded public spaces.

Crimes against women showed a slight but positive improvement. Sexual assault cases declined from 499 to 473, while molestation cases also registered a marginal drop. Vehicle theft saw a significant reduction, and other theft-related offences also came down sharply, offering major relief to citizens.

Financial crimes such as cheating recorded a decline, but cyber fraud cases increased substantially, emerging as a major challenge for the police. Despite this, recovery of stolen property improved considerably, with the value of recovered assets rising from ₹8.79 crore in 2024 to ₹12.71 crore in 2025.
