
Pune, June 14 2025: The series of thefts and house break-ins continues unabated across Pune city. In multiple incidents reported from different localities, burglars have made away with valuables worth nearly ₹30 lakh. Separate cases have been registered at various police stations in connection with these crimes.
Incidents of theft and house break-ins have been on the rise in recent days. Both locked homes and commercial establishments, including jewellery shops, have become prime targets for burglars. In one such incident, a jewellery shop located in Raviwar Peth was broken into. The Faraskhana Police Station has registered a case against unidentified thieves in this matter.
According to police reports, the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday (June 13). A 35-year-old resident of Kondhwa Khurd has lodged a complaint with the Faraskhana police. The complainant owns a jewellery store in Raviwar Peth. As usual, he closed the shop on Thursday night after completing the day’s business.
When he returned the next morning to open the store, he discovered that the burglars had broken the lock and latch of the shop’s main door and stolen cash worth ₹1.35 lakh along with gold, silver, and diamond jewellery worth ₹14.95 lakh. Sub-Inspector Shivraj Hole is investigating the case.
In another incident in Chandannagar, a theft at an apartment came to light. A 37-year-old man filed a complaint at the Chandannagar Police Station. The complainant owns a flat in Tatva Society, Chandannagar. He had locked the flat and gone out on Thursday.
In the early hours of Friday (June 13), burglars broke the lock of the main door, entered the bedroom, and stole gold and silver ornaments along with cash, all valued at ₹11.58 lakh.
Domestic Help Steals Jewellery from Employer’s Home
In another case, a 58-year-old resident of Laxminarayan Residency on Bibvewadi-Kondhwa Road lodged a complaint with the Market Yard Police Station. The complainant alleged that their domestic help stole jewellery worth ₹3.5 lakh from the dressing table in the bedroom while they were not paying attention. Upon discovering the theft, the complainant immediately approached the police.
