Pune, 19 June 2025: A shocking incident took place in Ambegaon Budruk on Wednesday evening when a 31-year-old woman jumped from the fifth floor of her building along with her six-year-old son. Both died on the spot.

The woman has been identified as Mayuri Shashikant Deshmukh and her son as Vishnu Shashikant Deshmukh. They lived in Kalpak Srushti Society in Dalvi Nagar, Ambegaon Budruk.

According to the police, Mayuri, who worked as a kindergarten teacher, left behind a suicide note blaming her sister-in-law for constant harassment. Senior Inspector Sharad Zine said, “The note mentions she was under mental stress due to harassment. We are treating this as a suicide case and further action will be taken.”

The incident happened around 6 p.m. Mayuri took her son to the terrace and jumped down. Hearing a loud sound, neighbours rushed out and called the police. Her husband, a bank employee, was not at home when this happened.

Both were taken to the hospital but were declared dead on arrival. The police have sent the bodies for post-mortem and are taking statements from family members and neighbours to understand what led to this tragic step.
