Midnight rampage in Padmavati area leaves residents fearful; two arrested, police searching on for others

Pune, 22 January 2026: A personal dispute escalated into a violent midnight rampage at Tala Jai Vasti in the Padmavati area, where a group of youths vandalised 16 to 17 vehicles, creating panic among residents.

The incident occurred around 2:30 am on Tuesday. According to police, the accused first stopped and assaulted a young man following a personal disagreement. When the victim managed to escape, the group chased him through the area, brandishing weapons and bamboo sticks.

Unable to catch him, the accused turned aggressive towards the neighbourhood, abusing residents and damaging parked vehicles, including two-wheelers and a tempo. Several vehicles were left badly damaged, leading to tension and fear in the locality.

Police teams rushed to the spot after receiving information and brought the situation under control. A case has been registered against seven to eight individuals at Sahakarnagar Police Station.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone II) Milind Mohite said the incident was triggered by a personal dispute. He confirmed that 16 to 17 vehicles were damaged and two accused have been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest the remaining suspects.
