The Indian government has launched a new feature enabling citizens to download Aadhaar directly via WhatsApp using the official MyGov Helpdesk chatbot. This initiative streamlines the process and offers convenience to millions of WhatsApp users.
Previously, individuals could access their Aadhaar card solely through platforms like the UIDAI portal or the DigiLocker app. With the recent integration, users can now safely download Aadhaar and other documents linked to DigiLocker without needing to switch between different apps. This feature is especially beneficial for those who use WhatsApp for everyday communication.
To access this service, you must have: A mobile number associated with your Aadhaar card, an active DigiLocker account, and the official MyGov Helpdesk WhatsApp number saved in your contacts: +91-9013151515.
Save the MyGov Helpdesk number (+91-9013151515) to your phone contacts.
Open WhatsApp and send a greeting message such as “Hi” or “Namaste.”
From the chatbot menu, select DigiLocker services.
Confirm your DigiLocker account and enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number.
You’ll receive a one-time password (OTP) on your registered mobile number. Enter it to verify your identity.
After successful authentication, the chatbot will display a list of your available documents.
Choose Aadhaar, and your Aadhaar card will be sent to you in PDF format directly on WhatsApp.
You can download just one document at a time. To proceed, ensure your Aadhaar is connected to DigiLocker. If it's not, you can update it through the DigiLocker app or website. The service is fully secure and prioritizes user privacy.
