Ahead of Apple’s 50th anniversary on April 1, Apple Inc announced that it will celebrate five decades of innovation that “have helped shape the way people connect, create, learn, and experience the world.” Earlier, CEO Tim Cook shared a note reflecting on the company’s journey from a small garage, emphasizing that “technology should be personal.”
Apple’s CEO Tim Cook wrote a note ahead of the anniversary, reflecting on the company’s journey over the past fifty years. In it, he recalled how Apple began in a small garage, guided by the belief that “technology should be personal.”
In a press release, Apple announced that in the coming weeks, the company and its global community will commemorate its 50th anniversary, celebrating the creativity, innovation, and impact enabled by individuals worldwide who utilize Apple's technology.
Recalling Apple's journey, Cook noted that the tech giant has introduced products that have reshaped technology, from its early computer and the Mac to devices such as iPod, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and AirPods. He added that along with this wide range of products, Apple's services such as the App Store, Apple Music, Apple Pay, iCloud, and Apple TV have also become part of people's everyday lives.
Tim Cook said Apple’s mission over the past five decades has been to push boundaries and empower people who dare to think differently. “If you’ve taught us anything, it’s that the people crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do,” he added.
From a small garage in Cupertino in 1971, where Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak first met, Apple grew into a global tech giant. By 1975, Wozniak had built an early computer, and Jobs suggested selling it. That simple start eventually led to a company whose products now reach over 2.5 billion people worldwide.
