The project will see high-definition CCTV cameras installed in every coach, covering all classes—General, Sleeper, AC, and premium trains such as Rajdhani, Shatabdi, and Vande Bharat. The rollout will be phased, prioritizing women’s coaches, suburban trains, and long-distance express services.

Each coach will be equipped with 4–6 cameras, ensuring comprehensive monitoring of entry points, corridors, and seating areas. Footage will be transmitted in real-time to centralized control rooms at divisional and zonal levels.

Video data will be securely stored for up to 30 days, enabling post-incident analysis and evidence collection. Cameras will not be installed inside toilets or changing areas, and strict protocols will govern access to footage.

Indian Railways will deploy advanced, tamper-proof cameras with night vision and motion detection capabilities. The system will be integrated with AI-based analytics to flag suspicious activities, unattended baggage, and crowding in real-time.
