Infosys, India’s second-largest IT services firm, has announced ambitious plans to hire approximately 20,000 fresh graduates in the year 2025, as confirmed by CEO Salil Parekh. This bold recruitment drive comes at a time when several IT peers are opting for workforce rationalisation, making Infosys’ campus-focused hiring strategy stand out in the industry.

Speaking to the media, Parekh stated, “We recruited over 17,000 people (gross hiring) in the first quarter and plan to bring in about 20,000 college graduates this year.” This intake is part of Infosys’ broader plan to maintain a talent-driven edge while major competitors, such as Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), are letting go of thousands of employees in response to global uncertainties.

The new hires will primarily be absorbed through campus drives and off-campus initiatives that target students graduating from engineering and technology backgrounds, including B.E., B.Tech, M.Tech, and MSc Computer Science programs.

A notable feature of this year’s hiring initiative is its alignment with Infosys’ strategic pivot towards artificial intelligence (AI) and digital skills. The company has already trained nearly 275,000 employees in AI-related domains, reflecting a clear investment in future-oriented talent development.

“AI allows for deeper automation and insights, but it also demands higher-level skills and more effort,” Parekh explained. This emphasis on AI is expected to benefit both new and existing employees, ensuring they remain relevant as the technology landscape shifts dramatically.

Eligibility criteria require applicants to have at least 65% or 6.5 CGPA in their academic records (Xth, XIIth, and graduation), and no active backlogs. Final-year students as well as recent graduates are invited to participate in the recruitment process, with opportunities nationwide across Infosys offices.

This hiring spree signals Infosys’ commitment to stability and long-term talent growth in contrast to the downsizing trend affecting other tech majors. “We’ve been deeply focused on AI transformation; whether it’s building AI agents or developing smaller language models internally,” said Parekh. Infosys’ steady approach and focus on upskilling are intended to shield it from the volatility seen elsewhere in the sector.

For aspiring technologists, Infosys’ announcement translates to thousands of coveted entry-level roles across India. Besides stable employment, new hires will gain access to intensive training programs particularly in digital and AI skills that can accelerate their career growth and enhance future employability.
