Apple's iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are shaping up to be September's biggest launch, with leaks now offering a fairly clear picture of pricing, chip, camera and design details ahead of an official unveiling.
iPhone 18 Pro: Launch Date
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro lineup on September 9, with sales beginning around September 18. This year's event is expected to focus entirely on the Pro models and Apple's first foldable iPhone, with the standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and iPhone Air pushed to a spring 2027 release.
iPhone 18 Pro: Expected Price
In the US: Estimates vary, but most converge on a hike. TechInsights pegs the increase at roughly $270, pushing the base iPhone 18 Pro to about $1,369, while the Wall Street Journal estimates a steeper $300 jump. The iPhone 18 Pro Max could land anywhere between $1,299 and $1,499 depending on storage, driven largely by rising DRAM costs.
In India: Multiple reports point to an increase of roughly ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 over current pricing. The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to start between ₹1,39,900 and ₹1,44,900, while the Pro Max could range from ₹1,54,900 to ₹1,59,900.
Processor: The iPhone 18 Pro lineup is expected to feature Apple's A20 Pro chip, built on TSMC's 2nm process for better performance, improved power efficiency, faster AI processing and smoother multitasking. Some reports suggest the chip could power the entire iPhone 18 lineup. Apple is also expected to adopt a new Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module packaging that integrates RAM with the processor to further boost speed and efficiency.
Camera Upgrades: The Pro Max is rumoured to feature a variable aperture main camera with Sony's new IMX905 sensor, replacing the IMX903 for improved light control. A brighter telephoto camera and a new stacked image sensor are also expected to enhance low-light and zoom performance.
Design and Display: The Dynamic Island could shrink by up to 35%, with Apple reportedly moving the Face ID illuminator beneath the display. The Pro models are also expected to feature a refined rear design, a slightly larger camera module, a thicker frame for a bigger battery and improved cooling, along with new colours including Dark Cherry, Light Blue, Silver and Dark Grey.
Battery and Connectivity: The Pro Max is expected to get a larger 5,200mAh battery, up from 5,088mAh. Apple may also introduce its in-house C2 modem on a Pro model for the first time, offering improved wireless connectivity and satellite 5G support.
Apple hasn't confirmed any of these details, and pricing remains the most fluid part of the story ahead of the September event. But with the chip, camera, and battery leaks pointing the same direction across both the US and India, the iPhone 18 Pro looks set to be a costlier, incrementally upgraded flagship rather than a dramatic redesign.
