Samsung has announced that its latest foldable smartphone lineup—the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip8, has recorded more than 2.71 lakh pre-orders in India within 72 hours of bookings opening.
Pre-orders for the new foldables began on July 24, with Samsung highlighting Galaxy AI, Gemini integration, slimmer designs and upgraded camera systems as key features.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 starts at ₹1,79,999, while the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is priced from ₹1,99,999. The Galaxy Z Flip8 starts at ₹1,24,999. Among the hardware upgrades, the Fold8 features a 50MP camera system, while the Fold8 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor with a 5,000mAh battery. Samsung says the Z Flip8 is its slimmest and lightest flip phone to date and introduces a redesigned FlexWindow display.
According to Samsung, the latest pre-order figures exceed those recorded for its previous foldable launches in India. The company said the response brings the Galaxy Z Fold8 series closer to the level of demand typically seen for its flagship Galaxy S smartphones.
Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 crossed 1 lakh pre-orders within 28 hours of launch in 2023.
Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 recorded a 40% increase in first-day pre-orders compared to the previous generation in 2024.
The strong initial response comes despite reports of slowing growth in the global foldable smartphone market. While pre-order figures reflect early consumer demand rather than confirmed sales, the numbers indicate continued interest in Samsung's foldable devices in the Indian market.
