Online-dating app Bumble CEO and co-founder Whitney Wolfe Herd has become the youngest woman billionaire on Thursday at the age of 31 after she took her company public.

Shares of Bumble Inc soared to 67 per cent in the IPO from an initial price of $43 per share to $ 72 in its trading debut, valuing the 31-year-old’s stake at $1.5 billion.

The company’s valuation has grown from $3 billion in 2019 to $8.2 billion in 2021, reported Financial Times

Wolfe Head founded the female-first dating app in 2014, after leaving an executive role at Tinder.

Bumble is the parent company of Badoo and Bumble, two of the world's highest-grossing dating apps with millions of users worldwide. The Bumble app is one of the first dating apps built with women at the centre, and the Badoo app, which was founded in 2006, is one of the pioneers of web and mobile dating products.

The dating app is also marketed by stars like Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who also act as an advisor and investor, and Serena Williams.

Bumble currently employs over 600 people in offices in Austin in the US, Barcelona, London and Moscow.
