Numerous Hard Rock Cafe locations in India are set to shut down following the termination of the franchise agreement between Hard Rock International and JSM Corporation Pvt Ltd, which managed the music-themed eateries in the India. Consequently, Hard Rock Cafe establishments will cease operations in 10 Indian cities, including prominent ones like New Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Pune. However, the Hard Rock Cafe in Goa will continue to operate.
On Monday, the hospitality giant headquartered in Florida revealed its decision to end agreements with JSM Corporation and associated entities, which were previously responsible for managing all Hard Rock Cafes and Rock Shops in India.
The closures affect Hard Rock Cafe outlets in Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, New Delhi, and Pune. “Hard Rock International has formally terminated its agreements with JSM Corporation Pvt Ltd and related entities covering the right to operate all Hard Rock Cafes and Rock Shops within India,” the company said, noting the Goa hotel remains open.
Hard Rock Cafe became a landmark in India’s metro cities, known for live performances, themed events, and music memorabilia. Outlets often showcased guitars, costumes, and collectibles from famous artists, hosting live bands, international acts, and DJ nights. Their closure marks a big loss for music and nightlife fans.
Since its founding in 1971 in London, Hard Rock Cafe has become a global icon in hospitality, operating cafes, hotels, casinos, and music-themed retail stores in over 70 countries. Following the termination of its franchise with JSM Corporation, most Indian outlets have shut, with only the Goa hotel remaining open.
