Shweta teams up with Suraj Sharma for her next feature film

Sakal Times

Actress Shweta Tripathi, who was last seen in critically acclaimed film Haramkhor opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui, is set to collaborate on another independent film titled Illegal. She will play the lead in a Hollywood indie film and will be starred opposite Suraj Sharma, who was last seen in Phillauri and made his much-talked about debut with Life of Pi.

“The film is a gritty realistic story about the social underclass — illegal immigrants working in a restaurant in Los Angeles, USA. Suraj plays such an immigrant in the film whereas Shweta plays the role of Suraj’s sister named Mahi, who always encourages him to trust himself and follow his heart. She is a self-assured girl who becomes the back bone of the family during testing times,” adds a source.

The actress is making her mark internationally with her next film Zoo, India’s first feature to be shot on the iPhone. It has been selected for Busan International Film Festival. “I love working with people from different parts of the world. And the team of a project really excites me. And that’s exactly how the it was at The Illegal.”
