‘Veere Di Wedding’ director Shashank Ghosh to make webseries

Shashanka Ghosh— the man behind smash-hit female buddy flick Veere Di Wedding, which brought dysfunctional, outspoken and strong women to the silver screen, will now direct another relatable yet dysfunctional story through a web series. With Veere Di Wedding’s uproarious audience applause and box office success under his belt, Ghosh has chosen to direct a finite series for the web instead of a film.

Commenting on his soon to release series, Shashanka said “I have said it earlier and I will say it now, I am not looking out to make art. I want to make quality entertainment which is relatable and absorbing. When this script came to me, I could visualise the story my way.  I understood the vision for this story and agreed to come onboard. The medium does not make a difference, for me the story does a trick.”

The director has received both applause and flak for Veere Di Wedding, especially for the provocative masturbation scene.  The web series will be yet another take at sex in the millennial world and it will be exciting to see how Ghosh’s take on this one. The series is all set to release on Times Group’s soon-to-be-launched OTT platform, built on top of their acquisition of MX Player.
