COVID-19: Robert Pattinson tests positive; The Batman shoot suspended

Sakal Times Entertainment Desk

British actor Robert Pattinson was found tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Friday. This resulted in the suspension of the shooting of The Batman.

Movie studio Warner Bros. stated that “a member of The Batman production” in Britain had tested positive for the COVID-19 but did not give a name. “Filming is temporarily paused,” the studio’s statement added but did not cleared the duration. Variety, the Hollywood Reporter and Vanity Fair all quoted sources as saying the person who was found positive for the contagion was Pattinson, the film’s star.

Robert Pattinson is starring as the caped campaigner in the new movie from director Matt Reeves which had recommenced shooting a few days ago after an almost six-month pause because of the COVID-19 outbreak. It was one of the first major productions to resume in the UK with improved safety and social distancing measures in place.

The Batman earlier had a brush with the infection in March as well. Andrew Jack, a well-known dialect coach and actor who had been working on the film before lockdown, contracted the deadly infection and died. Matt Reeves at the time tweeted that they were “heartbroken.”
