Mumbai: Bollywood actor Aamir Khan tested positive for novel coronavirus on Wednesday.

"Aamir Khan has tested positive for COVID-19. He is at home in self-quarantine, following all the protocols and he’s doing fine. All those who came in contact with him in the recent past should get themselves tested as a precautionary measure," News agency ANI quoted Aamir's spokesperson as saying.

Aamir in June last year had revealed that some of his staff members had tested positive for the contagion and were shifted to a medical facility. The Dangal actor had said at that point that he and his family members had tested negative.

A day after his birthday, Aamir recently declared that he is quitting the social media platforms. The superstar wrote, "Hey guys, thank you so much for all the love and warmth on my birthday. My heart is full. In other news, this is going to be my last post on social media. Considering that I am SO active anyway, I have decided to drop the pretence. We will continue to communicate as we did before. Lots of love, always."

As soon as this news was out, #AamirKhan started trending on Twitter where his fans also wished him for speedy recovery.

On the work front, Aamir is working for upcoming film Laal Singh Chaddha along with Kareena Kapoor Khan. The movie is slated to release during the Christmas this year.
