Game of Thrones-fame actor Emilia Clarke has jumped on to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) bandwagon with the original series Secret Invasion for Disney Plus. According to reports, the actor is joining an already impressive cast Ben Mendelsohn, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Samuel L Jackson and Olivia Colman.

The project marks Emilia’s first time into the Marvel universe. The US-based entertainment website, Variety, broke the story, stating the actress was in final negotiations. The actor will be joining her GoT co-stars Kit Harington and Richard Madden in the Universe - both have been cast in The Eternals, slated to premiere November 5, 2021

While Jackson will be essaying his MCU role of Nick Fury, the director of SHIELD, Mendelsohn will be playing Skrull Talos as he did in Captain Marvel and Ben-Adir will be the main villain. Kyle Bradstreet is onboard as a writer and executive producer. Reports further mention that Kevin Feige’s unit is producing the series for the OTT, as it does all other MCU titles, including the recent hits like WandaVision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

According to Variety’s report, the series is said to follow a group of shape-shifting aliens - the Skrulls. The show, apparently, gets its name from the comic-book crossover event, in which the Skrulls invaded Earth. Since the Skrulls have been portrayed more sympathetically towards the end of Captain Marvel, it will be interesting to see which race plays the real villains are in the upcoming series.

The four-time Emmy nominee, Clarke topped the fame charts for her portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen on HBO’s Game of Thrones. The series recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of its premiere. The actor is also a multiple Critics Choice Award nominee and was the 2018 recipient of the BAFTA Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year. Her work includes the holiday film Last Christmas, Me Before You, Terminator Genisys and Solo: A Star Wars Story. She’s all set to voice a role in the upcoming animated film The Amazing Maurice.
