Gautami Kapoor stands by Ram Kapoor after his ‘infidelity is not a deal breaker in marriage’ comment on Lock Upp

Actor’s wife backs his controversial take on cheating, says trust and understanding matter more than absolute fidelity

Television actor Ram Kapoor is making news for his frank remarks about marriage and infidelity on the reality show Lock Upp season 2. He drew criticism after saying that cheating is not necessarily a deal breaker if there is genuine love in the relationship. Now, his wife Gautami Kapoor has responded to the ongoing social media debate surrounding Ram and has publicly expressed her support for him.

What Gautami shared

Gautami shared a cheerful photo with Ram on her Instagram Stories, captioning it, “Only love (red heart emojis) @ramkapoor.” She also uploaded a reel featuring Sadhguru speaking about love and trust, indicating that she resonates with his message. In the clip, he says, “If love is true, it will arise without needing an object. If it is truly genuine love, it means you have made your emotions very pleasant… Everything you look upon, you feel a certain pleasantness toward it..that is love.”

Ram's comments inside Lock Upp

The actor also spoke in support of on-screen kissing in movies and television, stating that a husband has a duty to ensure his wife feels secure, loved, and emotionally protected. He added that his wife was comfortable with him kissing other performers on camera. Ram and Gautami first crossed paths on the sets of the television series Ghar Ek Mandir in the early 2000s. What began as a friendship slowly evolved into a romantic relationship, and the two were married on February 14, 2003. They are parents to two children a daughter named Sia and a son named Aks. The couple regularly offers a peek into their family life on social media, and their lighthearted exchanges often delight their followers.

In an earlier episode of Lock Upp, Ram discussed relationships and said, "Over 20–25 years of marriage, you go through ups and downs, good times and bad times. During a rough patch, if one of you makes a mistake, but you realise you cannot live without your partner or your children, then time heals everything and nothing becomes a dealbreaker. Sometimes such things happen unintentionally."
