Actor Janhvi Kapoor recently addressed the dangers of alcohol addiction at an event where she supported an initiative aimed at transforming the public discourse on alcoholism—from silence and stigma to a more clinical understanding, greater self-awareness, and improved access to treatment.
Janhvi Kapoor discusses struggles with alcohol dependency
Speaking at the launch of Off The Rocks, Janhvi noted that as alcohol has become increasingly normalised in social settings, there is very little awareness about the point at which casual drinking turns into a clinical issue. She said, "The conversation around alcohol is either completely missing or heavily judgmental — and neither approach helps the people who actually need support. Alcohol addiction is real, it is a clinical condition, and it affects people from all walks of life.
This initiative is about making it easier to recognise that reality and to understand that help is available." She further discussed how alcohol addiction is frequently viewed as a moral shortcoming, which it is not, and is rarely acknowledged as a mental health condition requiring proper treatment and intervention. For Off The Rocks, Janhvi collaborated with Amaha, a comprehensive mental health organization.
Janhvi's upcoming work
Professionally, Janhvi recently appeared in the romantic comedy Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, directed by Shashank Khaitan and featuring Varun Dhawan, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf. Released in 2025, the film achieved moderate box-office success, grossing ₹100 crore worldwide against a production budget of ₹80 crore. It also gained nationwide traction following its streaming debut on Netflix later that year.
