On Wednesday, filmmaker and host Karan Johar announced that the upcoming ninth season of his hit celebrity talk show, "Koffee With Karan," will be its last.
The final season is scheduled to premiere on JioHotstar on October 14.
Johar, who launched the show in 2004 and has hosted numerous leading Hindi film celebrities across 161 episodes over eight seasons, described the final season as his way of raising the mug one last time "with gratitude."
He said there are some journeys you never plan to end, but you eventually sense, deep within, when it is time to let them go.
"Koffee With Karan" has been an exceptional part of my life. It has brought me friendships, memories, moments of sheer madness, immense love and, of course, its fair share of controversy. Yet, throughout everything, one thing has remained constant: the audience.
They have shared laughter with us, argued with us, teased us, cheered us on and, most importantly, kept returning for another cup.
Saying farewell is emotional, yet it also feels appropriate.
This concluding season is my way of lifting the mug one final time in gratitude, in love, and in honor of everyone who has shaped ‘Koffee With Karan’ into what it is. So, join me for one last cup of Koffee. Just once more," the filmmaker said in a statement.
The show debuted in 2004 on Star World and quickly turned into a sensation among viewers, thanks to its unfiltered conversations, rapid-fire segments, and headline-making celebrity disclosures that often sparked controversy.
