A part of road in Andrews Ganj in Delhi to be named after the late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput as the area’s civic administration passed a proposal for the same.

SDMC’s (South Delhi Municipal Corporation) Congress councillor Abhishek Dutt last year had moved the proposal to name the road after the late actor. “It was cleared by the SDMC House in its meeting yesterday,” a senior official said. The Andrews Ganj councillor in the BJP-led South Delhi Municipal Corporation had also sent the proposal to the civic body’s road naming and renaming committee.

In the written proposal to the committee, Dutt had stated that a large number of people living in the area neighbouring Road No 8 hail from Bihar (native of Sushant) and had claimed “they have been demanding” to name the stretch from Andrews Ganj to Indira Camp as Sushant Singh Rajput Marg. So, it is proposed that Road No 8 be named after the actor in his memory, Dutt had said.

On Thursday, his fans around the world took to social media to remember the actor whose untimely demise also led to Bollywood’s high-profile investigation. While the Mumbai Police declared it a case of suicide, there were demands from all fields for a CBI investigation into the case. The case is also being investigated by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Enforcement Directorate (ED).
