This is the ideal time to pack your bags and walk towards the nature. Either you’re a professional trekker or a beginner, doesn’t matter, there’s a series of places out there for you.
1. Sinhagad Fort – Ideal for Beginners
Trek Level: Easy
Duration: 1.5 to 2 hours
Location: 30 km from Pune
A classic monsoon favourite, Sinhagad offers stunning views, cool breezes, and historic charm. Sinhagad comes along with a lot of pit stops that includes local vendors that offer garam bhajis and pakoras and much more. The hills are known for their cinematic views, along with a touch of history that it carries and obviously, mouth watering food.
2. Lohagad Fort – Best for Leisure Trekkers
Trek Level: Easy to Moderate
Duration: 2 to 3 hours
Location: Near Lonavala (65 km from Pune)
Lohagad is an ideal weekend getaway destination, especially for beginners. Along with the iconic “Vinchu Kata” (Scorpion’s tail) ridge that it has, it also comes along with dreamy fog and a wide trail that is safe even during the rains. Lohagad is known for its fort that looks similar to a movie set.
3. Rajmachi Trek – For the Nature Lover
Trek Level: Moderate
Duration: 4 to 5 hours (from Lonavala side)
Location: Between Lonavala and Karjat
Rajmachi is suggested for professional trekkers as it’s more of an adventure than just a trek. It’s a perfect spot for solo trekkers who are in search of peace and stunning views. Rajmachi is best for a full day nature detox.
4. Andharban Forest Trek – For the Fit Explorer
Trek Level: Moderate to Challenging
Duration: 4 to 5 hours
Location: Tamhini Ghat (70 km from Pune)
Andharban is considered to be one of the most unique monsoon trekking sports in Maharashtra. It gives you an experience of walking downhill through dense forest paths covered in fog, along with multiple streams and valley views. In simple words, it’s a rainforest experience with mystical vibes.
5. Torna Fort – For the Seasoned Trekker
Trek Level: Challenging
Duration: 5 to 6 hours
Location: 60 km from Pune
Torna, or also known as Prachandagad, is the highest hill-fort in Pune district. It requires one to wear good sturdy shoes, especially during monsoons when the paths can be slippery. Torna is for seasoned trekkers.
