Pune: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Advocate Madhav Vasantrao Nashikkar, who was caught while accepting a bribe of ₹3,000 in a property registration case.

The arrest took place outside the Mamledar Kacheri Office near Swargate on Chhatrapati Shivaji Road, following a complaint lodged by a man who had recently completed the purchase of a flat in his wife's name.

The property registration was completed at the Haveli Sub-Registrar's office, where the complainant had paid the required government fees.

After the registration, the complainant had also paid Advocate Nashikkar his professional fee. However, the lawyer then demanded an additional ₹3,000 as a bribe, claiming it was necessary to facilitate the registration and pay off the registration officials. The complainant approached the ACB with this information.

A trap was set on Chhatrapati Shivaji Road, and Advocate Nashikkar was caught accepting the bribe. He has been taken into custody, and a case has been registered against him at Khadak Police Station.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Amol Tambe and Additional Superintendent Dr. Sheetal Janve. Police Inspector Veernath Mane is leading the investigation.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had also apprehended an Assistant Public Prosecutor, Anjala Nalini Kamalakar Nawagire, (54), while she was accepting a bribe of ₹10000. The bribe was allegedly demanded in exchange for facilitating the return of a car seized in connection with a criminal case.
