Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has made significant decisions to address traffic congestion and civic issues in Pune. He has ordered the immediate removal of the incomplete Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor on Nagar Road and approved the extension of a two-tier flyover from Wagholi to Viman Nagar.
The incomplete BRT corridor has been a cause of severe traffic congestion and accidents between Somnath Nagar Chowk and Kharadi Bypass Chowk. Former MLA Sunil Tingre ,these concerns during a meeting with Pawar, emphasising the need for swift action to prevent further mishaps. The Pune Municipal Commissioner has been instructed to dismantle the BRT corridor without delay. This move aims to alleviate traffic bottlenecks and enhance road safety in the area.
The planned two-tier flyover, initially set to end at Wagholi, will now be extended to Phoenix Mall in Viman Nagar. This extension is expected to significantly reduce travel time and improve connectivity between these areas. Pawar has directed the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to execute the extension. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will issue the necessary No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to expedite the project.
These decisions reflect the government's proactive stance on addressing Pune's infrastructure challenges. By focusing on traffic management, water supply, and housing development, the administration aims to enhance the quality of life for city residents.
