The order was passed by Civil Judge (Senior Division) J. G. Pawar, who directed the actors to appear before the court on August 28. The summons follows a petition filed by advocates Wajed Khan Bidkar and Ganesh Mhaske, who argued that the film undermines the dignity of the judiciary and legal profession.

The Jolly LLB franchise has earlier seen two successful films, both built around courtroom drama and humour. The third installment is set for release on September 19. However, petitioners have requested the court to restrain its screening, stating that under the guise of creative liberty, the makers have portrayed judges and lawyers in an insulting manner.

Taking note of the complaint, the court has sought the response of the actors and the filmmakers before the scheduled release.
