Pune: Concerned about the growing dependence on mobile phones, over 300 teachers from primary and secondary schools in Ambegaon Taluka have pledged to raise awareness about the harmful effects of excessive mobile use.

On Saturday (March 1st), at M.A. Khan B.Ed College in Manchar, these teachers took a collective oath to limit mobile usage and promote healthy lifestyle habits among students.

The initiative was undertaken as part of the Taluka-Level Teacher Capacity Building Training Program, organized by the Maharashtra State Council of Educational Research and Training (MSCERT), the District Education and Training Institute (DIET), and the Samagra Shiksha Department, Panchayat Samiti, Ambegaon.

As part of the training's concluding session, a discussion was held on the increasing mobile dependency and its negative impact on health. Expert trainer Sanjay Hule highlighted that excessive mobile use among children is leading to serious issues.

"Children are becoming detached from outdoor activities. Excessive mobile usage is causing irritability, sleep disorders, headaches, fatigue, and vision problems. Teachers must set an example by using mobiles only when necessary and encouraging students to reduce screen time," he stated. He also urged educators to actively participate in the awareness campaign to help students break the cycle of mobile addiction.

Apart from addressing mobile addiction, the event also emphasized environmental conservation. Coordinator Jyotsna Mashere spoke on the importance of tree plantation and preservation to maintain environmental balance. The event was moderated by Avinash Gholap, and Machhindra Zanjre delivered the vote of thanks.
