Pune: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has announced an additional ₹15 crore for the Shardanagar beautification project, increasing the total funding to ₹30 crore. This ambitious project aims to enhance the overall appeal of Shardanagar, complementing the canal beautification efforts already completed in Baramati city.
Pawar, during his visit to Shardanagar, stated that a service road would also be constructed alongside the four-lane Baramati-Malegaon State Highway. Administrative officials have been directed to prepare a proposal for this service road, which will improve connectivity and safety for commuters.
Integrated Development of Baramati and Malegaon
Baramati Municipal Council and Malegaon Nagar Panchayat are key to the taluka’s progress, with the Baramati-Malegaon State Highway playing a pivotal role. Shardanagar, a hub of educational institutions, has become an essential center for students, further necessitating infrastructure upgrades.
Pawar stressed the importance of making the highway accident-free by widening it and implementing safety measures. “Funds have been allocated to ensure these preventive measures are implemented effectively,” he said.
Canal and Drainage Renovations
Pawar also addressed the need for renovating the Neera Left Canal. “Once renovated, the canal’s water-carrying capacity will increase, and the road width alongside it will be extended to 10 meters,” he added. Senior officials from the Water Resources Department have been tasked with overseeing this work.
In response to complaints from residents about drainage issues in the Shardanagar area, Pawar instructed the Baramati Municipal Council to address these concerns promptly. He assured additional funding for resolving these problems and improving public health in the region.
The meeting was attended by prominent officials, including Agricultural Development Trust CEO Nilesh Nalawade, construction department executive engineer Amol Pawar, Baramati Chief Officer Mahesh Rokde, Malegaon Nagar Panchayat Chief Officer Balaji Londhe, private secretary and regional officer Hanumant Patil, and others.
